Military Transfer of Credit
The Office of the Registrar is responsible for evaluating all transcripts for students received from other educational institutions. The Office has designated personnel who review military-related transcripts. In order for the evaluation and possible awarding of military credit, the following criteria must first be met:
- Apply and be admitted to Illinois State
- Submission the Member 4 copy of your DD 214 (or comparable military separation papers) to the Admissions Office
- Based on your branch of military service, submission of official transcripts from your institution(s) listed below:
- Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard - Joint Services Transcript (JST)
- Air Force - Community College of the Air Force (CCAF)
- All Services - College Credit by Examination (CLEP & DSST) - Defense Activity for Non-traditional Education Support (DANTES)
Illinois State refers to the American Council of Education (ACE) Guide when evaluating credit for military course completions described on the JST. Please note that Illinois State does not award credit for military experience (occupational specialties) when evaluating JST's. For additional assistance or more information about the services provided, students should call or visit the Veterans and Military Services Office.
